Whitley Methodist church is situated in an urban area approximately 2 miles North of the town centre of Wigan. In addition to being a friendly and welcoming place of worship it also serves the local community.

The Church caters both for those seeking a traditional form of worship and also for those preferring a more modern style The Sunday morning service is more likely to be of a traditional, formal, format, although modern hymns, songs and sketches are frequently included.  On the second Sunday of each month, in the evening, `Worship Together’ is a lively informal act of worship. The Junior Church meets on Sunday mornings. Ages of the young people attending range from 3 to 16.  There are crèche facilities for younger children and babies.

The church has a mixed adult choir, which leads worship each week and sings sacred music on a number of occasions during the year.
