Introduction PDF Print E-mail

ImageWhitley Methodist church is situated in an urban area approximately 2 miles North of the town centre of Wigan. In addition to being a friendly and welcoming place of worship it also serves the local community.

The Church caters both for those seeking a traditional form of worship and also for those preferring a more modern style The Sunday morning service is more likely to be of a traditional, formal, format, although modern hymns, songs and sketches are frequently included.  On the second Sunday of each month, in the evening, `Worship Together’ is a lively informal act of worship. The Junior Church meets on Sunday mornings. Ages of the young people attending range from 3 to 16.  There are crèche facilities for younger children and babies.

The church has a mixed adult choir, which leads worship each week and sings sacred music on a number of occasions during the year.

Prayer Walks - Saturday 12 September PDF Print E-mail

The Churches Partnership Wigan North West has organised this fantastic opportunity to help us bring our prayers to the places we live, work, shop and play. You need not be a seasoned walker as all the locations are easily accessed by car with parking places suggested.

There is no starting time or schedule to stick to, take your own time and route and end up at Haigh Hall stables at 3.30pm for coffee and cakes; an opportunity to share with each other the experiences of the day.

A booklet containing the walks and prayers to read at each location can be obtained from Bryan Shepherd.

There is no need to do all the walks - just as many as you feel able to complete. You can do the walk as a family or form a group.
