6 September 2009 - Morning Worship |

We welcomed Sarah Wickett to lead our service. Sarah expounded on the stories in Mark 7 to illustrate how we can bring our family, friends, everyone we encounter to Jesus. Sha shared with us her own deep desire to bring her family to Jesus and the importance of placing ones family in God's hands through prayer, bringing them to Jesus by allowing his love to flow through us and being sensitive to take the opportunity to share the gospel at the right time. The same goes for friends, pray, love, share, even more so than for family, friends are open to invitations to share events at church.

Helen Brown presided for early morning communion and shared some thoughts with us about the overwhelming love of our Father God for us. Using the imagery of Song of Solomon to reveal the love of Jesus the bridegroom for his bride, his church.

We continued our stroll through Philippians with David Clowes as he joined us for morning communion. David introduced the idea of our lives tracing the life of Jesus from the pages of the New Testament. Traced in the likeness of Christ we would all be ministers, slaves of Christ. The image traced would always be different from the world and making a difference in the world, Christ's salt and light. As Christ was we would be focused on the Father's eternal values not the values of the passing age.

David Clowes led the service in which we shared communion. He continued his series on Philippians with the last four verses of chapter one. David exhorted us to follow the advise of Paul and stand out, stand out. stand firm and stand together. Stand out for the gospel., whatever our situation or difficultiies. Stand firm in the spirit and without fear of any kind. Stand together in the vine, part of the body, the children of God.

John Parker was welcomed to our service. John consider the teaching of Jesus on prayer in John 12:27-28 . John started with his own testimony of when his prayers were "Father, help me!" or "Father, save me!". Despite facing the dreadful cross, just days away, Jesus refuses to pray this prayer but prayer "Father bring glory to your name". We must follow his example whatever circumstance we are in, calling for God to be glorified.
